We’re All Knights!
A Knight at the Tavern (AKATT) is a solitaire-like video game that takes place in a high fantasy setting where you play as the Knight, serving a tavern full of hungry patrons.
This game is the brainchild of good friends Nicholas Massey (programming lead), Andrew Brooks (project coordinator), and I (art/design lead), and it is the result of 17 long weeks of work in our Interactive Media capstone class. The game was initially prototyped with physical playing cards then moved to a more widely accessible virtual card game prototype. The game was then created in the Unity engine where we are still developing today.
Our main focus for AKATT was to make the game as technologically accessible as possible. With rising RAM prices due to factors such as AI, it has become increasingly difficult to build or even buy a prebuilt computer for gaming and regular productivity. AKATT wants to bridge that gap by making the game as mechanically light as possible so that it would be able to run on the lowest end laptops and computers.
Specifications such as requiring 2 GB of RAM, an integrated graphics card, and an Intel Core i3 (or equivalent) processor all make this goal achievable. If you’d like to learn more about the game, we have a Google Doc with documentation of the game at the bottom of this page.
